Guisseppe belonged to a multi-cat household and he
didn't like it, although strangely enough he liked living at our
hospital. We tried to adopt him out a couple of times but the second time
he was returned at 28 lbs so Dr. Kessler decided to keep him. He became our office cat. It
took a few years but we eventually got him down to 17 lbs. He would sit on
the reception counter and put his paws up on the clients shoulders as they were
trying to check out. He would crawl inside cat carriers that were left
open and make it hard for our patients to go home. He would sneak into a
left open hospital cage as we were discharging a patient, and would gobble up
whatever tempting food we had been using to encourage patients to
eat. He loved to lick the back of mailing labels. He liked to curl
up inside clients winter coats when they weren't looking. He lived to be 17 and gave us many years of laughter.
