To protect your cat from exposure to and the spread of infectious diseases, it is our policy that every cat that stays with us be current on their rabies and distemper vaccinations.
In addition, cats need to have been tested for the Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficency Virus (FIV). We can perform this test on your cat's drop off day for a fee of $55.00. Outdoor cats need to be current on their leukemia vaccination, or be retested for FeLV/FIV prior to boarding.
Outdoor cats need to have had a fecal exam done in the last three months; indoor cats in the last year. The fecal exam can be done while you cat is boarding for an additional charge.
In order to ensure we can provide your cat with the best care possible while he or she stays with us we require a current physical exam. Different stages of a cats life and certain medical conditions have different requirements. Our physical exam requirements are as follows:
- Cats under 12 years old must have a healthy physical exam with one of our veterinarians within the last 12 months.
- Cats 12-14 years old must have a physical exam by one of our veterinarians within the last 6 months.
- Cats 15 years or older must have a physical exam by one of our veterinarians every time they board.
- Diabetic cats must have a physical exam by one of our veterinarians every time they board.
- Cats with known significant medical conditions may require a physical examination prior to boarding. Please discuss with our staff.
If you are a new client who's cat will be boarding with us for the first time, please try to schedule this exam appointment before the day you will be bringing your cat in for admission. This allows us to get to know you and your cat and to address any concerns you may have about your cat's upcoming visit with us.
All cats are checked for fleas before admission. If any fleas are seen, the cat will be treated with Frontline at the owner's expense.
As of October 1, 2010 we will require that all cats come in to board with their own food. This will prevent digestive upset resulting from a sudden food change. If your cat arrives for boarding without it's own supply of food, you have the option to purchase food from Affectionately Cats.
Boarding Checklist Indoor Cats:

Please have your veterinary hospital fax your cat(s) records to us at 802-860-0786 . If you are unable to provide us with proof of current vaccines and FeLV/FIV test results, your cat will need to stay in the hospital area until such vaccines and/or FeLV/FIV test results are brought up to date. |
